The last one? For years, the Illinois Railway Streator Branch has been home to a significant number of stored BNSF coal cars. Lately, the IR has slowly been removing the cars to send back to the BNSF for scrapping. Led by OMLX GP38-3 #1019, the last cut of cars is seen today, crossing the Illinois River lift bridge in Ottawa, IL. With the IR not having any business south of here and the line now being empty, one has to wonder if this was the final train movement over this iconic bridge, that was built in 1898 for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy.
