NS 131 (Chattanooga,TN-New Orleans,LA) is on the outskirts of Wildwood, GA on the NS AGS North-End on the long trek to the "big easy." NS 131 has a track authority to proceed south out of the Chattanooga Terminal at Wauhatchie at milepost AG-5.5 to the siding at Trenton, GA milepost AG-17.2 to meet the northbound NS 178. Once the meet is complete NS 131 will receive another track authority to proceed out of the siding at Trenton to the next location south of the AGS North-End. Yes, this is railroading in the 21st Century and Track Warrant Control (TWC) is still a major practice on Class 1 railroad like Norfolk Southern especially on secondary lines that don’t have high volumes of rail traffic. Track warrants usually allow a train to move in one direction only "Proceed" instruction. Sometimes a train may also be given authorizing movements in either direction, called a "Work between" instruction. However, only one train can have a section of track at one time if moving in the same direction. If there are two trains moving in the same direction, the leading train must give up the track before the trailing train can obtain a track warrant for that territory.
