Steam rotary snow blower R 12 (X rot d # 9212), built by the SLM Winterthur in 1913 for the Rhaetian Railway, main network. Withdrawn in 1968, given to the Blonay-Chamby Railroad Museum in 1971, then changed in 1996 with Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke: R 12 to the DFB, stabled in Gletsch, and the X rot d # 9214 of the DFB to the Blonay-Chamby. In 2002 transported from Gletsch to Goldau by road and since then renovated by the "R 12 group" of Martin Horath. Now operational again and looking like new in 1913 (or better...)! The doors on the box side in front of the snow blower drive are open. The twin superheated steam engines run at up to 270 revolutions per minute on a shaft running transverse to the direction of travel below the boiler. From there, the power is transmitted via cogwheel arrow wheels (Citroen gearing) to the shaft running lengthwise to the centrifugal wheel, with a reduction ratio of 1:1.8. The 2.5-meter-high blower wheel rotates at a maximum of 150 revolutions per minute. Hidden behind the rearward extended frame of the front bogie is a small twin steam engine that can be used to power the rear axle for shunting movements.
