Two For One. Metra F40PH-3s 105 (9/1977) and 119 (10/1977) have just passed under CP Taylor and arrive at Chicago Union Station on the evening of Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The streamlined E and F units of the legacy railroads were already older in age, but also in technology as their departure was expedited by the introduction of Head End Power to the coaches of America's railroads. RTA would become the first commuter railroad to purchase the F40PH, which has outlived expectations as they enter their fifth decade of service.
