At last light, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway* freight makes its way along the BNSF’s St. Paul Sub as it heads to the Dayton Bluffs Yard. Of the four locomotives, there is but one safety cab engine: BNSF GP39-2 2734 (ex-BN 27.34) leads, followed by BNSF Dash 8-40CW 526 (ex-ATSF 526), General Electric Leasing (LMX) Dash 8-39BE 8571 and Norfolk Southern high-hood SD40 1622 (ex-Norfolk & Western 1622). The glint from the sunset is strong on this winter’s day. (Saint Paul, Minnesota – February 23, 2006)
* - This was the time when the railway was still known by its for names, rather than just four letters.
