This track is UP's McPherson branch. Before the merger with Missouri Pacific, it saw just a six-days-a-week turn to McPherson that usually consisted of a B-B diesel and a handful of cars. As a condition of the merger, ATSF was given rights over this line and put on a pair of daily train that typically had four units and 70-80 cars. MP also added a pair of Wichita trains that drew two B-Bs and 50-60 cars, frequently including auto racks of light trucks. It was quite an overnight change, but lasted just a few years. The branch is now a stub that ends on the south side of Salina.
