Express, But Not VRE. Norfolk Southern Corp 21st Century Steam Program was in its heyday on June 4, 2016 when former Norfolk & Western Railway J Class 611 rolled into the Manassas, Virginia Station. Several excursions operated that weekend from Manassas to Front Royal, Virginia. These trips gave thousands of railfans the opportunity to see and ride behind the "Queen Of Steam". On weekdays, Virginia Railway Express trains carry commuters to Washington D.C. Union Station from this platform.
