The Grand Canyon Line Lives. Dating back to the glory days of this rail line's original owner, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, this bridge crossing found just south of Las Vegas, New Mexico still proudly wears it's 1920's paint that reads "The Grand Canyon Line" on both sides of a Santa Fe logo. Serving as part of the BNSF's Glorieta Subdivision, this bridge span and the subdivision overall now only see the daily passages of Amtrak's Southwest Chief's. Running slightly tardy now after having to wait to meet it's westbound counterpart, today's eastbound Southwest Chief, piloted by the 21-year-old AMTK 135, hustles across the span on its approach to its next station stop of Las Vegas.
