The morning rush hour is winding down as Metra train 1232 from the western suburb of Brookfield, making all the local stops en route, passes through the maze of trackage at Control Point Taylor as it arrives at Chicago Union Station with F40PH-2 180 shoving on the rear. On the adjacent track, being held by the workers along the track, is an empty train, possibly off the SouthWest Line (Manhattan to Chicago), heading to the Metra yard just south of CUS (formerly known as the "Zephyr Pit" in the CB&Q days) for some mid-day cleaning and servicing. This train has a pair of engines up front, led by METX 112 (ex-RTA 112). (Chicago, Illinois – September 27, 2021). Thanks to retired Metra train dispatcher Mark Shapp for his assistance with the information on this scene.
