A Pasco to Barstow freight train takes the super long way around the country. The train is seen here in Nebraska approaching Lincoln in 40 miles. The BNSF Gateway Subdivision between Stockton, CA, and Klamath Falls, OR, went out of service on July 21 when the Dixie Fire damaged bridges and collapsed tunnel #4. Normal reroutes were running via Denver but this 5x3 freight went the super long way east via Lincoln, then south to KC, then way back west.
