E&LS 402 reaches Sidnaw, MI. Sidnaw was once the crossroads between the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic mainline and the Milwaukee Road line to Ontonagon. The ex-Milwaukee is now abandoned short of Ontonagon and the ex-DSS&A abandoned west of Sidnaw, used for car storage east of Sidnaw and the E&LS owns both. Traffic through here has been sporadic ever since the the pulp mill closed in Ontonagon. This turn out of Channing will only run to Sidnaw before turning back east. The two wood racks are along for the ride and will be spotted for loading at Amasa on the way back. The gondolas will be spotted at Sidnaw for the loading of paint ore (trucked here from an old iron mine 70 miles to the west at Bessemer).
