| BLS 485 008 leads Re465 005 and its container train over the Kanderviaduct on the north ramp of the Lötschberg pass near Fruitigen.
Since the opening of the Lötschberg Base Tunnel in 2007 the quantity of freight routed 'over the top' through the old Lötschberg tunnel and scenic mountain pass has reduced significantly.
Unlike the Gotthard route however a handful of trains do still use the traditional route. Luck was on my side on this occasion with three northbound freights passing during a few hours on this beautiful afternoon. None were seen in the opposite direction. |
