| A pair of EMD motors are locked into a battle with gravity as they fight to haul a 17,000 ton coal train up the 1.5% grade of the Palmer Divide. Here at Greenland, only a few miles away from the summit, the loaded coal train crawls at about 10 MPH. Denver South dispatcher has alerted the train that they'll be meeting a northbound train at the top of hill at Palmer Lake. |
