A very late NS 175 (Chattanooga,TN-Jackson,FL/FEC) is making its way south through the quiet community of Apison, TN on the NS Atlanta North-End. I’ve seen my fair share of odd things on the railroad scene since Norfolk Southern implemented the PSR-Practice. While NS 175 is at a length of 12,359ft the power configuration is a 1x2 set up. A single unit up on the head and two units as a mid-train DP. Well just ahead of 175 is the grueling Howardsville grade which isn’t your small climb. As soon as 175 passes the train speed is going to drop from 40mph to 25mph on the climb. PSR is a very strange was of railroading in this region.
