Even though the temperature started this morning below zero, the railroads in the Midwest are still in full PSR mode...well the best they can. Doesn't take long being around these railroads to hear dispatchers and crews talking about how much this non-sense is making railroading as hard a possible. Example is this 2x2 LA to Global 2 stacker seen here at Nelson. This 16,000!!!!! feet train was a complete headache for the man in Omaha trying to do anything else while it was at Clinton. Also even though Proviso has been closed, the work still has to be done else where, and now traffic backs up on Geneva Sub while ever Tom, Dick, and Harry does work at Global 3.
Back in 1934 the UP ran a M-10001 passenger train from LA to Chicago in a record breaking time of less than 39 hours. (1.75 days), this stacker is now going on 6 days since originating in LA! Mean while numbers look good and big money is payed out to people that really need more money!
