"Track Inspection after a Crossing Strike"
On the afternoon of October 17, 2022, Metro-North's Track Department checks for damage to the track structure at the scene of an earlier grade crossing strike at Eagle Street along the Waterbury Branch in Waterbury, CT. The NH Switcher rescue engine can be sitting sitting in the background awaiting the removal of the tractor-trailer.
The wreck occurred earlier that morning when a truck driver stopped his tractor-trailer on the track after side swiping a van. The truck driver tried moving his truck out of the way as Metro-North Waterbury Branch train #1957 came around the curve. He was unsuccessful.
