To celebrate 175 years railways in Switzerland, the iconic double locomotive Ae 8/14 # 11801 of SBB Historic pulled a passenger extra from Erstfeld over the Gotthard mountain line til Airolo and back. The locomotive with Buchli drive was built in 1931 by SLM and BBC, has 5416 kW/7360 horsepower and a weight of 240 ton. Used on the Gotthard line til 1977, then stabled and revised for the 100 years anniversary of the Gotthard line in 1982, declared historic vehicle in 1984. Nowadays maintained and operated by the Team Erstfeld, Bahnhistorischer Verein am Gotthard, and based in Erstfeld. On this particular run with 3 cars only, only one half of the double locomotive was operating, because of some electric problem.
