The Twin Cities & Western is working to move sand cars out of storage at the west end of the Minnesota Prairie Line on a chilly winter morning in February 2017. With frost clinging to the approximately 100 year old rails and more than 70 cars on the drawbar, these two old EMD's that have been re-powered with Caterpillar power plants are trying to find their footing as they climb a very slight grade into Wood Lake from the west. They're not even moving at a walking pace as the conductor observes the wheels slipping as they fight to gain traction. Eventually, they would prevail, but like many things in life, it was a struggle.
