Over the Mason-Dixon
Around this time 2 years ago, I adventured up the Norfolk Southern Lurgan Branch. A really cool spot along the line is where it crosses the Mason-Dixon Line. I just love how you can get the "Pennsylvania State Line" sign in your shot.
Then symbolled as Norfolk Southern train 201 (Rutherford, PA-Rossville, TN intermodal) is seen crossing the line between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Since then, NS 201 now also carries freight from Enola, has been resymboled to NS 289, and takes a different route through Virginia. I really like going up there this time of year as the light is very good on the west side of tracks for the afternoon trains out of the Harrisburg Area. I plan on doing the same type of trip the day before thanksgiving.
