At Long Last. After 30+ years of planning, re-planning, re-planning the re-plan, frivolous lawsuits, construction fits and starts, delays, more delays, cost overruns, etc and so on, the Green Line Extension to Medford has finally opened to the public. Just 12 days prior, revenue trains finally started running on this stretch of track between Medford and Lechmere, mostly running parallel to the Lowell Line. On this bitterly cold Christmas Eve, a pair of trains bound for the Central Subway and Huntington Avenue wait for their next run down the new branch. It's finally good to see this transit gap filled in spite of how long it look. And now on to the next project.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
The MBTA is very dear to me. The first trains I ever rode as a toddle to teenager were those of the "T" Here is a collection of MBTA Subway and trolley I have found on RP from the 60's thru today.
