Remarks & Notes |
In late Spring 2005, a volunteer at the North Carolina Transportation Museum works on Graham County Shay 1925. The locomotve was obviously still running at this tim, but by 2008 was taken out of storage and placed into the roundhouse.
The 3-truck locomotive was bought new by the Graham County in 1925 when the little railroad first began service. The railroad shut down and opened a few times in the 1970s. The last time this locomotive ran on home rails was in 1975.
It was well-known that the late Trains Magazine editor Jim Wrinn loced the Graham County Railroad and this locomotive in particular. As such, some are wanting to return her to operating condition and that is being looked into.
