Up until December 27, 2002, I had not had a camera fail on me. I'd had film not catch. I'd made my own exposure and focus mistakes, but I'd had good luck with the cameras themselves. I don't belive in ESP but I literally had a really weird thought as I walked into the Mazatlan station facility in Mazatlan Mexico on that day... I suddenly thought, "What if my camera doens't work?" AND IT DIDN'T. Every time I advanced the film, it triggered the shutter. I went through about half the roll, panicking, until it finally occured to me to take photos by advancing the film.
