"Putnam Avenue at Putnam Junction"
On June 22nd, 2023, Metro-North Railroad's Brewster Switcher, w/ BL20GHM 127 leading, takes a "mini-bomb" shuttle consist over the Putnam Avenue crossing on the remaining portion of the former New York & Putnam Railroad (Old Put) at Putnam Junction, just off of the Harlem Line, in Brewster, New York. The crew utilized the Putnam Wye to turn the train so that the locomotive lead south for its trip to the shops at Harmon.
A majority of the Putnam Line between New York City and Brewster was converted into a rail trail years ago, leaving only the wye and less than a thousand feet of tail track on the north end intact for Metro-North use. The in service portion of the existing trackage and trail are separated by a fence as seen in the photo.
