Freeport Freeway. After picking up CN 2310 and 2335 at Munger, CN train M337 gets back underway as they struggle getting back up to trackspeed with a long train for Waterloo. IC SD70s 1026 and 1027 lead, both still wearing their Illinois Central “deathstar” paint scheme from prior to the CN buyout of IC in 1998. They are seen here passing the IC era tri-light In Plato Center, one of very few remaining IC era tri-lights along the old IC Freeport Division that haven’t been replaced by modern CN vader signals. 25 years later, it’s neat to still see remaining IC relics… plus IC motive power making its way to the Freeport Division every so often to go with it.
