The diesel shunter Tm # 506 of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke (DFB) has no cogwheel drive and is used for shoving the steamtrain through the 1874 meter long summit tunnel in the direction Muttbach-Belvedere to Furka DFB, which has a maximum grade of 3.5 %. This is a requirement of the operating regulations for safety reasons. The 120 HP diesel shunter Tm 2/2 # 506 was built in 1953 by Asper and came to the DFB in 1994 from the Chemins de fer du Jura (CJ). In the background former Brig-Visp-Zermatt Bahn (BVZ) leightweight steel cars, used usually for special trains or the hiker train, now stabled on the Furka due to lack of tracks in Realp.
