Neutral Switzerland has an arms export law that prohibits deliveries to belligerent countries. This means that the export of unneeded battle tanks to Ukraine is also prohibited. After lengthy discussions in parliament, it was decided that a total of 25 "Leopard 2 A4" main battle tanks (Pz87 in the Swiss army) no longer required by the Swiss army could be sold to the supplier Rheinmetall Landsysteme Gmbh in Germany. Their use is only permitted in Germany or other NATO/EU countries. The transportation was carried out with 2 trains of 9 tanks each, loaded onto six-axle flat wagons Sagmms 490 of DB Cargo, new delivered by Tatravagonka in Slovakia. 7 tanks that are no longer able to drive themselves are to be delivered to Germany by road transport. SBB Cargo's Re 620 # 039 "Murten" (Re 6/6 # 11639) pulls the 820-ton train 65647 from Bettwiesen to Wil through the Bronschofen AMP stop. From Wil freight yard, the transport took place with extra train 69023 via Winterthur-Regensdorf to the Limmattal marshalling yard (RBLU), and onwards together with the load of the previous day to Basel shunting yard for export to Germany.
