On 8 June 2024, the Rhaetian Railway's new 5860-metre Albula Tunnel II between Preda and Spinas was officially inaugurated and from 12 June, trains will run on schedule through the new tunnel, which has been under construction since 2014. The project was around 4 years behind schedule, partly due to corona and delivery delays in connection with the Ukraine conflict. Over the next two years, the old tunnel will be rebuilt into a safety tunnel, which will be connected to the new tunnel by a total of 12 cross-passages. Interregio 1133 on the IR38 line from Chur to St. Moritz with Ge 4/4 III # 641 in the Coop publicity paint scheme enters Spinas on track 1, as it has a scheduled stop here. The trains passing through use track 2. Diesel tractor Tm # 116, which has come from Preda, is parked in the old tunnel. The rails currently end directly at the tunnel portal.
