Remarks & Notes
Conrail Shared Assets Local Train ME2 out of Metuchen Yard with a locomotive that is still sporting a Conrail paint scheme. It is seen here on a foggy January morning crossing the Raritan River Viaduct heading west on Northeast Corridor Track #2 on approach to County Yard. At County, it will work industries on the Millstone Branch and the Delco Lead. NS 5286 was originally built for the Penn Central in 1973 as PC 8085. It later became CR 8085 under Conrail before becoming NS 5286 under Norfolk Southern. In April of 2012, it was painted in Norfolk Southern colors in a special "Operation Lifesaver" scheme. Notice the easily seen patchwork on the nose of the unit where the class lights once were.
