Remarks & Notes |
Horse-Drawn Hen House.
London Tramways Co. horse car 284 is seen on display at the London Transport Museum. The car was one of 300 horse cars built in 1882 by John Stephenson & Co. and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to enter service in London. The car was taken out of service when the tramways were electrified in the 1900s, and was later found being used as a hen house on a farm in the 1970s!. The museum was able to acquire it and fully restore it in the 1990s. |
