Rounding the curve into Bealville as it climbs over the Tehachapi Mountains, BNSF train Z-NBYWSP1-10U (UPS/LTL Intermodal Train; North Bay CA to Willow Springs IL) is slowing for a stop … even though it has an approach (yellow over red) signal just ahead. As the only train moving on Union Pacific's Mojave Sub between Tehachapi and Bakersfield this day, most likely due to one of the UP's Maintenance-of-Way vehicles seen everywhere this day had not yet cleared the mainline ahead, causing this hot train to hold for about ten minutes before proceeding once again. (The MOW window would close around 4:00 pm [16:00] as after that time, three westbounds began descending the mountain from the town of Tehachapi, while eastbound/southbound trains began moving out of Bakersfield. After sunset, the mainline next to the old Southern Pacific depot in town was very busy this evening.)
