Remarks & Notes
East Deerfield local ED-9 is seen exiting the West Portal of the 4.75-mile Hoosac Tunnel. The tunnel was completed in 1877 and is known as "The Bloody Pit" for the amount of workers who were killed building it. The former Boston & Maine line is now part of the newly formed Berkshire & Eastern under the Gennesse & Wyoming umbrella and jointly operated with Norfolk Southern.
