Helm Leasing GP38-2 1840 was built by EMD in March 1973 as Missouri Pacific 648. It was later renumbered MP 2099. It retained that number, but with the reporting marks of new owner Union Pacific, after the UP/MP merger of the two railroads in December 1982. UP 2099 was later renumbered UP 360 in December 2005. It was eventually be sold to Helm Leasing and became HLCX 1840, see in Terminal Railroad Association of Saint Louis' Madison Yard. (Venice, Illinois – October 4, 2024).
