Remarks & Notes |
Canadian Railroad Convergence.
A large percentage of the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighborhood of Montreal is covered in railroad tracks, including VIA, Exo, and Canadian National yards and connections to Gare Centrale and the Victoria Bridge. Recently added to the sop of the spaghetti plate is the Réseau express métropolitain (REM), which sails over the area on a long elevated structure. Near the Exo facility is a raised park with an observation deck overlooking the Exo and CN yards, as well as the wye to Gare Centrale and the tracks leading up to the Victoria Bridge. Occasionally, when the timing is just right, multiple things will be moving through the area at the same time. Visible here is an inbound REM train and VIA Corridor train 24, both bound for Centrale, as well as CN GP40-2L 9677 laid up in their yard. Fittingly a pair of Canadian Wheat Board covered hopper cars are front and center in the yard, adding to the distinctly Canadian scene! |
