Remarks & Notes
Amtrak's westbound Southwest Chief is running over 14 hours late as it makes a rare daylight appearance across the northern Arizona region through Hackberry. AMTK 14, like many other P42DCs, is showing its age with rust and nose damage. What was the poster child for Amtrak's long distance trains power, these P42 locomotives will soon be replaced by Amtrak's new Siemens ALC-42 Charges. The Southwest Chief is one of the last remaining to hold out on receiving the Chargers.
