846S arrives at Otira Station on the mainline while off to the left another 4 banker DXC class locomotives are being prepared to go onto the head of 846S. The banker locomotives are added for the short journey between Otira and Arthurs Pass to assist in getting these fully loaded coal trains up the 1 in 33 grade of the Otira tunnel.
