As BNSF train F-T216-2-24T ("Foreign Train operating on BNSF Track", pulling this Department of Transportation test car, DOTX 216, from San Diego to Los Angeles), arrived in Fullerton, a mechanical issue with one of the two locomotives (BNSF ES44C4 6743) caused the train to stop for over two hours. While the BNSF crew, with help from the DOT crew, was trying their best to solve the problem, it was an opportunity to photograph the DOT’s High Speed Research Vehicle DOTX 216, part of their Automated Track Inspection Program (ATIP), and clearly built from an old Budd PRR/PC/AMTK Metroliner control car. Eventually, it was determined that one of 6743's traction motor had seized and was irreparable by the onboard crew. (Fullerton, California – March 25, 2025)
