Remarks & Notes |
Georgia Central train L782 works its way west toward Macon, GA from Savannah passing through the small community of Ohoopee, GA. The railroad was known for its fleet of ex-Southern Railway high-nosed U23Bs which were retired in 2014. After a few years of various EMD units on the roster the railroad again became a GE-dominated roster with the acquisition of former NS B32-8s. The railroad now has an entire fleet of this model exclusively, numbering 20. It's the largest fleet of this locomotive type in the world and pretty much the only place to see these units in daily mainline service. |
