Now it appears that KCS, always a low-cost innovator, has developed their version of a portal icicle breaker. Was the original idea that this device precedes the lead unit? It's the only reason I see for making the metallic hands so short....that way the road crew can see past. Jim just happened by when they were testing the device using robot boxcars. Not seen is the conductor hanging on to a car handrail 4 cars back with a remote. KCS....always thinking outside the box, both literally and figuratively. Gotta love that railroad???!
