Man, what a mess!!! Looks like the bridge collapsed or something. Anything else damaged other than the cars and the bridge? Imaging that, getting off from work and your truck is buried under tons of coal. In N.J., they would probably jack up the premium saying you should have parked somewhere else.

For those unfamiliar with the famous Triple Crossing in Richmond, VA, this view is looking south. The derailment is on the former Seaboard Air Line mainline, the track in the foreground is the former Chesapeake & Ohio James River line, while the paved-over tracks in the street below are a former Southern Railway industrial lead.

So did they determine the cause of the derailment? I have photos of this location from a year or so ago. Where did you take the shot from?

Good thing they didn't dump the train in the river!

There is news and more photos of this at the Richmond Times-Dispatch website.
It appears that this was a Virginia Power unit train (VAPX on the cars). Looks like a section of the bridge collapsed. I guess they're lucky it didn't give way under a locomotive, or someone might have been hurt. Then again it might have been easier to clean up than the coal (not that I want someone to get hurt). Have to keep an eye out and see why this happened. 8 trains a day have to re-route.
