It's amazing what people do to save a few seconds. Its horrible to see when it creates these thousands of dollars of damage. Amazing picture Mr. Weirich.

Looks like that this train wasn't lucky for wearing a little green on St. Patricks Day!
|
Thanks for catching the action, Gregory! Yet another stupid driver (I am not insulting truck drivers!)...
|
I wonder if the train would have faired better if the pizza wasn't frozen.
|
I'm surprised it derailed. Especially since it was a pizza truck.

As a driver that has hauled frozen food over-the-road, I can tell you that frozen food is one of the heaviest types of loads that you can haul in a big truck. Some of the heaviest loads I ever pulled were 45,000lbs+ of frozen potatoes from Idaho to the east coast. It's a challenge to keep your GVWR under the legal 80,000lb limit (and axle limits) as you frequently have to fuel short in order to stay under the weight limit. This is one of the worst things a train can encounter at a crossing and unfortunately one of the few things it can't contend with successfully 100% of the time. Hopefully this driver will be looking for a career change if it truly was a case of trying to beat a train.

Great effort getting these photo's.

Gives new meaning to the slogan, "What do you want on your tombstone?" Thanks for sharing.

The worst results of an at grade crossing accident I have seen in my career, have to be either a garbage truck or oil field equipment. But this incident certainly comes close. Nice picture Greg.

Greg, don't tell Ross I said this, but I think you got the better shot ;-)
