Is it just me, or are those ditchlights closer together than normal? Anyone know why their like that?

On other NS Dash-9's (and most units purchased new by NS) the ditch lights are mounted against the inside of the outer handrail stanchions. Because of their location, ditch lights are prone to damage. (Especially in crossing collisions!) I don't know the specifics of NS 9716 but I'd suspect that it was damaged off-line and repaired using the techniques used by the host shop.
