Posted by Ryan M. Martin on September 20, 2008  SWEET! Long live Amtrak Phase III. This photo illustrates: 1. the reason for the original order P40 fading stripes (uneven height difference with the Amfleet cars) and 2. that phase III blue went from a very light shade to a much deeper one.
