Makes one thankful that the design entered traffic after the BR two-tone green era, I'm sure, if the corporate blue livery had not been in the process of being rolled out the British Railway Board's design consultants would have suggested modifications to the cab front and body side design! As it was, the Class 50s were one of the best looking locomotives when painted 'Rail Blue'.
As for their old stamping ground, there must have been few better sights than a double headed 12 or more coach train pounding up Shap, whilst they did good work on the west of England trains, their finest hours must have been spent on the heavy Anglo-Scottish expresses of the early 1970s pre the full electrification of the route.

Very nicely composed with a "clean" feel. I can just feel the slight early morning cool breeze as the trees begin to rustle.
