I like the comments so far. You are right the Agent/Operator would have lived up stairs, even with his family at times. This is like the concept of the lighthouse keeper. This shot is so period looking that you wonder if it was staged. It is real of course not staged. It so happens that the fifties era had entire early century railroading still intact in certain places. It took the modern highway system a while to reach areas like this. Also the railroad accounting departments were behind the profit curves or affraid to deal with reality. On my first visit to Farnum, QE in 1958 I saw milk and bread delivered with horse drawn wagons. The wires were still up in Granby but not a single M&SC car was in site. Thank you John.

Hi John. I am working on a documentary about the streetcar and its importance to America and how the museum I volunteer at preserves that history. With your permission I would like to use this photo in the production. I personally won't make any money off the final product but I may have some DVDs made up for the museum to sell.
