I wouldn't have wanted to be the crew on this thing barreling down the hill from Manila knowing there was nothing you could do to stop it. Was there ever a running release on the west slope to heat the brakes up? Probably will never know.

Interesting Photo. I believe that is the same unit that was involved in that.. But the units cut away on the fly before the derailment happened..

Ian - The power in the shot were of a different train (some of it's cars are visible on the left) but not from the derailed train.
