Iowa Pacific Holdings has just bought the line from UP going between Watsonville to Davenport and is planning on running freight and passenger trains according to Santa Cruz news! Supposed to be a Polar Express this year. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we see action on this line again. Posted by Elrond Lawrence on November 15, 2012  It's true, the old Santa Cruz branch is coming back to life. The Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay Railway will be running a whistle stop train on Nov. 17 to celebrate the reopening of the line... followed by Christmas trains from Santa Cruz to Davenport through the end of December (my daughter is a cast member). Amazingly, two Spirit of Washington F9s arrived in Watsonville and will be powering the trains!
