If those Budd coaches look somewhat familiar, they are former Chesapeake & Ohio "Chessie" cars, built for a planned Washington, DC-Cincinnati daytime streamliner that never operated as intended. Several cars remained in the States, including the dome sleepers (designed for daytime occupancy,) which went to the B&O, and dome-observations, which went to the D&RGW, while the combines and blunt end, counter-diner-lounges remained with C&O. Some coaches were also sold to the ACL and the Seaboard.
