Very cool, Loyd! I'm liking this a lot. Will have to check this out next time I'm on the 'Ghany.

I'm a trucker, and I didn't know trains had weigh stations! We are only allowed 80,000 lbs gross wt. Why do they weigh trains enroute??
|
In the past, C&O trains were weighed either at the subdivision marshaling yard, or the main yards at Russell (Westbounds) or Clifton Forge (Eastbounds). When this practice was abolished in the 1970's, two weigh in motion scales were installed at Barboursville (Westbounds) and Riffe (Eastbounds). Today, only select coal trains and the two manifests are weighed on the fly, which saves time.

Nice photo Loyd, thanks for sharing it and the information.

Really nice shot Loyd. The signal is lit very evenly and the aspects didn't blow out. Maybe we'll see that signal next trip out.
