Canadian Pacific 4030, like all 1500 h.p. GMD cab units on the road is an FP7, with the elongated carbody, all provided with steam generators as built. Those assigned to freight service were in the 4000-series, while passenger units carried 1400-series numbers. As units were reassigned, they were given appropriate renumberings as well. Likewise, all of CP's 1750-h.p. EMD cabs were FP9s, but none of them were assigned to freight service. It is interesting to note that CP did have distinct freight, and passenger series, of Montreal (Alco) and Fairbanks-Morse 4-axle cab units.

"Unusual" to say the least. Spectacular might be a better word. It must have sounded amazing as it left town! KG
