Mitch - Looks like the "Cream of the Crop" from all I've seen to date. The daytime shots seem to pale comparatively.
Very nice!
Wonderful picture Mitch.

It doesn't get much sharper than this, Mitch. Beautifully captured. Thanks for sharing.

Did I call this one right or not !!! The Creme de la Creme. It also may be the first POTW to win with less than 1,000 views at the time of selection - Go Figure !!!
Wow, what a shot staged or not, great work Mitch!
Fabulous, Mitch -- I love the touch of red showing on the inside of the bell. Congrats on POTW!
Once again mitch, your steam shots never cease to amaze me! This steam shot is awesome. Congrats on POTW!
Mitch, you definitely found the sweet spot and nailed the exposure, but what makes this shot is the processing. The photo looks better than the actual scene did. One look at this and I just reformatted all of my memory cards. Congrats on PotW!
Actually, Kevin, the processing was minor and limited towards a little dodge and burn around the corners and then slightly dropping the exposure (a process similar to "pull processing in film days) which effectively eliminated any "hot" spots. Fall colors, a green truck and a guy in red - all surrounded by the dark of night - how can you go wrong? 28 mm at ISO 160, 4 seconds at f 7.1.
Excellent work as usual, Mitch.
Straight out of a picture book! Beautiful colors and lighting. Bravo!
Enjoyed this photo. Thanks for posting it.
Perfection! This would look amazing in a large print.
Thanks for all the kind comments - glad you've all enjoyed the capture as is. For anyone (such as myself, lol) slightly irked that the plume does not emphasize forward motion, please enjoy this version taken two minutes later at ISO 2500, 1/15th. A little bit more grain but perhaps a more "properly" captured plume. As luck would have it, the lighting was fluid and the shadows ever changing. Consequently, for this one photo, I elected to clone out a dark shadow at the extreme bottom right corner. Since this resulted in an alteration of the scene, I will post a link HERE to that image for your enjoyment.
Actually Mitch, I think the forceful plume of smoke/steam makes it appear as if the ol' girl is slowly cresting a hill with a full steam chest! Again, picture perfect. :)
Pure magic, wonderful exposure Mitch.
